Job Overview
- We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team, with a specialization in managing and optimizing PI systems (AVEVA PI, OSI PI) and ensuring asset performance.
- The successful candidate should have a strong background in process control and instrumentation and will play a crucial role in interfacing with PLC systems, but their primary focus will be on asset performance management via the PI platform.
- You will be responsible for the setup, management, and optimization of data infrastructure for process automation and industrial systems.
Key Responsibilities
PI Systems Management & Asset Performance
- Oversee the PI AF Database (PIFD default Database), ensuring regular backups, data integrity, and availability for disaster recovery.
- Manage and maintain the OSI PI server, ensuring smooth data integration and system reliability.
- Oversee PI Vision Database configuration and usage for effective data visualization and analysis of asset performance.
- Focus on asset performance management, leveraging PI systems to monitor, analyze, and improve industrial asset efficiency, reliability, and uptime.
Process Control & Instrumentation Interface
- Collaborate with process control teams to ensure accurate PLC integration with the PI system.
- Provide technical expertise in process control and instrumentation, ensuring data flow between field devices (PLCs, sensors, etc.) and PI systems for real-time decision-making.
- Act as the liaison between PI resources and process control/SCADA systems, ensuring seamless data transfer without compromising asset performance management goals.
Network Architecture & System Design
- Design and implement network architectures that support PI system data collection from industrial assets and control systems.
- Ensure secure, efficient, and reliable communication between PI servers and various industrial systems across the enterprise.
Backup, Recovery, and System Optimization
- Implement robust backup solutions for PI AF Databases, ensuring full disaster recovery capabilities and business continuity.
- Regularly review and optimize system performance, applying best practices in OSI PI server management and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to data acquisition, control systems integration, and PI system operations.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with other engineers, IT, and operations teams to support asset performance initiatives and ensure seamless data integration with process control systems.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in automation technologies, particularly those related to PI systems and industrial control solutions.
- Proactively suggest improvements to PI system configurations to enhance system efficiency, performance, and security.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in automation engineering, with a focus on PI systems, process control, and instrumentation.
- Proficient in AVEVA PI system administration and optimization, including PI AF Database management.
- Strong working knowledge of OSI PI server, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with PI Vision and other PI system visualization tools.
- Expertise in network architecture and communication protocols for integrating PI systems with industrial assets.
- Background in process control and instrumentation, with experience interfacing with PLCs for data collection and process automation.
- Proven ability to manage asset performance using PI systems, optimizing asset health and reliability through data-driven insights.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges in industrial automation environments.
