Kano Independent Research Centre Trust (KIRCT) was established by Pfizer Inc. for the people of Kano State in Nigeria with the purpose of conducting Bio-medical (and Healthcare) Research on communicable and non-communicable diseases of public Health importance in Nigeria and the African continent. The Centre also conducts programmes for workforce development in public health. Pfizer Inc. is fully funding the activities of the Centre through some Memorandum of Understanding which is projected to continue for the next several years.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze large biological datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, etc.).
- Develop and maintain bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
- Perform bioinformatics analyses using command languages
- Collaborate with researchers within and outside the center to interpret genomic data and publish findings.
- Ensure proper data management and quality control.
Qualifications & Experience
- BSc/MSc in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field (Ph.D. is an advantage).
- 3+ years of experience in bioinformatics, especially with NGS data.
- Proficiency in bioinformatics tools (e.g., GATK, Bowtie,, SAMtools), programming (Python, R), and statistical software (R, SAS).
Skills:
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with biological databases and Linux/Unix systems.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
