Fact Foundation (FACT) is a Nigeria-based organisation that aims to support populations affected by ongoing and emerging global challenges through research, data, and technology solutions. RADAR is a FACT programme that promotes the use of “bottom-up” technology-based solutions in the delivery of public and humanitarian services. The programme works in partnership with Government, I/NGOs, and Donor actors to design and deploy technology-based systems to respond to needs and support communities affected by emerging and ongoing global challenges. Using our expertise in data science, geographic information systems, and software development, we work with our partners to ensure that technology solutions are “fit to purpose” and “fit to use” which then ensures efficient and accurate decision-making, identification of beneficiaries, assignment of goods and services, as well as tracking and monitoring of impact.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Data Officer will perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:
Data Cleaning and Management:
- Develop and implement data cleaning protocols for various datasets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies through systematic checks and validation.
- Standardise data formats and variables to facilitate analysis and reporting.
- Maintain organised and secure data storage systems, adhering to data protection and privacy guidelines.
- Assist in the design and refinement of data collection tools to improve data quality at the source.
Data Analysis:
- Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analyses using R and Excel to identify trends, patterns, and relationships within datasets.
- Generate summary statistics, cross-tabulations, and other relevant metrics to support research objectives.
- Collaborate with research teams to understand analytical requirements and translate them into appropriate analytical approaches.
- Perform data visualisation using R and Excel to present complex data in an accessible and understandable format.
Reporting and Dissemination:
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate data reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Summarise key findings, insights, and recommendations based on data analysis.
- Contribute to the drafting of research reports, policy briefs, and other communication materials.
- Ensure all reports are well-structured, visually appealing, and adhere to FACT Foundation's branding and quality standards.
Other Project Support:
- Provide technical support and guidance to research staff on data management, cleaning, and basic analysis techniques.
- Stay updated with best practices in data management, analysis, and relevant software (R, Excel).
