- AfriLabs is seeking a results-oriented and innovative Economic Measurement Consultant (Economic Impact Consultant) to quantify the economic impact of its interventions and track progress toward achieving its moonshot goal of catalyzing a $1 trillion digital economy by 2030.
- This consultant will evaluate AfriLabs' initiatives and innovation ecosystem efforts in addressing Africa's social, economic, and environmental needs.

- The consultant will design and execute a framework to measure, in economic terms, the projected and realized impact of AfriLabs’ moonshot initiative. This includes evaluating how innovation-driven interventions contribute to Africa’s digital economy and address the continent’s social, economic, and environmental challenges.

Responsibilities:
- Framework Development: - Design a robust economic impact assessment framework tailored to AfriLabs' interventions and the broader African digital economy. - Align the framework with the key dimensions of innovation, investment, and AfriLabs' strategic goals.
- Data Collection and Analysis: - Identify and compile relevant data sources, including quantitative and qualitative indicators. - Analyze economic, social, and environmental metrics that contribute to the digital economy's growth.
- Impact Measurement: - Measure the baseline and projected contributions of AfriLabs’ initiatives to Africa's digital economy. - Quantify the impact of AfriLabs' programs, partnerships, and community-driven initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: - Work closely with AfriLabs members, innovation hubs, and stakeholders to gather insights and validate findings. - Facilitate workshops or focus group discussions to refine the measurement approach.
- Reporting and Recommendations: - Prepare detailed reports, including visual dashboards, to showcase the moonshot’s progress and impact. - Develop actionable recommendations to optimize AfriLabs’ strategies and initiatives for maximum economic impact.
- Capacity Building: - Train AfriLabs staff and member hubs on using the economic impact framework to monitor and evaluate their activities.
Requirements
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of Africa’s digital economy, innovation ecosystems, and socioeconomic landscape.
- Excellent data analysis skills, including proficiency in statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, or similar software).
- Strong communication and reporting skills, with experience presenting findings to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to engage with and understand the needs of stakeholders across sectors (public, private, and civil society).
- Familiarity with AfriLabs' vision, mission, and activities, and Moonshot goals.
- Knowledge of environmental impact measurement frameworks or tools.
- Experience working in multicultural and cross-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and deliver within deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree in Economics, Data Science, Development Studies, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience in economic analysis, impact measurement, or monitoring and evaluation, preferably in innovation or digital ecosystems.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing impact assessment frameworks for large-scale initiatives.
