The Opportunity

For the next 12 months, GPON with funding support from ECW-SCI, will be implementing an Education in Emergencies project in Zamfara and Kastina states, focusing on improving education in emergencies and protection outcomes for IDPs that involves timely and responsive protection monitoring, capacity building for government, education mainstreaming and stakeholders, awareness-raising on SGBV, case management, and child protection. 

The intervention aims to guarantee that all individuals-men, women, boys, and girls, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and persons with disabilities-receive life-saving integrated responses, ensuring their safety within their communities and timely support in case of harm. GPON will deliver comprehensive services encompassing education in emergencies, child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), and protection coordination, advocacy, and information for the affected populations under First Emergency Response to the Displaced Population in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina States, Northwest Nigeria funded by Education Cannot Wait and jointly implemented under consortium led by SCI. Job Overview/Summary

We are seeking a skilled Technology Specialist with expertise in web and mobile application development to join our team. This individual will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing a specialized application, “Edutrack”, aimed at tracking and managing humanitarian education activities in emergencies. The Edutrack app will serve as a centralized platform for data storage, quick information retrieval, reporting, and real-time access to program activities and metrics. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • App Development & Management: Lead the development of Edutarcl, an application dedicated to tracking humanitarian education initiatives in emergencies, including the app\'s design, coding, testing, and deployment on mobile and web platforms.
  • Data Integration & Storage: Ensure the app integrates a robust data storage and management system that securely hosts all relevant information, providing easy access for users to program metrics, reports, and updates.
  • User Experience (UX) & Interface (UI) Design: Design user-friendly, intuitive interfaces to enhance accessibility and ease of use for users across different digital literacy levels.
  • Maintenance & Updates: Regularly maintain the app to improve functionality, address any technical issues, and implement periodic updates to align with organizational needs and technological advancements.
  • Data Security: Establish strong data security protocols within the application to protect sensitive information and comply with relevant data protection regulations.
  • Training & Support: Provide training and ongoing support to end-users to ensure smooth adoption and efficient use of the Edutarcl platform.
  • Website Management: Manage and maintain the organization’s website, ensuring alignment with brand standards, regular content updates, and optimal performance.

Experience and technical competencies:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in web and mobile application development, preferably in non-profit or humanitarian sectors.
  • Strong skills in programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Swift, Java) and development frameworks (e.g., React, Flutter).
  • Experience with database management and data security best practices.
  • Familiarity with UX/UI design principles and tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with humanitarian data management or education technology.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud hosting and server management (e.g., AWS, Azure).

Salary and conditions: NGN 500,000- NGN 700,000. The income will be subject to statutory deductions as per applicable Nigeria laws. The employee is responsible for the tax returns.
