Work with Engineering Team on Transmission Network planning with recommended technologies and equipment. Ensure Network designs are planned accordingly to cover all required budgets within acceptable timeline without compromising functionalities, quality and performance during implementation and commissioning. coordinate with network Fiber planner on media selection and project managers on timelines and resources.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Network Design Technical Plan, Network planning and designs
- Network inventory management & planning, including auditing and record management
- Network procurement / equipment contract management, including budgeting record tracking
- Manage, develop Craft Terminal, EMS, NMS and OSS systems, coach, and train others
- Adhere to, lead compliance with, and assist in developing company policies and procedures
- Works closely with Network Architects to develop Technical Plans and documentation of all network designs
- Assist other departments and lead and report on projects as requested by the Program Manager
- Ad-hoc reporting as requested
- Ensuring network design aligns with NetSuite records as appropriate and updated
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience, masters preferred) in a technical field
Experience and Skills
- Requires minimum of 5 year’s technical experience in telecom industry with at least 5 years in network engineering, network design role or equivalent
- Good understanding of DWDM, OTN, Ethernet and SDH technologies
- Understanding of SLTEs
- Ability to plan, design and oversee network implementation according to WIOCC processes for Fibre, ROADM/DWDM (10/40/100G/200G/400G/600G/800G), OTN, SDH, DCN
- Knowledge in supporting TX equipment i.e., Tejas Networks, Huawei, Ciena, Infinera, Adva, , Nokia, etc
- Effective use of Microsoft Project and Planner. Can manage timelines and budget thresholds
- Ability to develop network plans with accuracy and communicate plans to CxO level evidenced by work history and accomplishments
- Experience and understanding of network synchronisation, performance monitoring, ITU-T standards
- Quality assurance auditing & testing, manage and mitigate network risk register
- Optical networking experience including OTDR, optical link budget calculations, fibre types and testing
- Effective written and verbal communications skills evidenced by work history and accomplishments
- Excellent communications and soft skills, including ability to listen to and summarize and
- Must use B/OSS tools effectively to record information accurately and concisely in a timely manner
- Good presentations skills
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
