Around 3.5 billion people - half the people on the planet today - are malnourished. Each year, malnutrition kills 3.1 million children under the age of five and leaves 161 million stunted, trapping generations in lives of poverty and unfulfilled potential. The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is focused on finding solutions to end malnutrition within our lifetimes.

GAIN is seeking to recruit Programme Monitoring and Improvement (PMI) Officers (three (3) slots) to support in the implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities by conducting routine data collection activities, supporting the generation of credible evidence on programme progress, and ensuring that monitoring data is complete, accurate, reliable, and accessible for programme learning and decision making.

This role will be offered on two (2) years fixed term contract, subject to securing the award and availability of funding and each will be based in either of the three locations (Lagos, Kano, Nasarawa). Key Responsibilities include.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of programme theories of change, logic models, results frameworks, and MEAL plans.
  • Support the implementation of MEAL activities at field level.
  • Support the design and deployment of digital data collection tools on platforms such as SurveyCTO and CommCare, ensuring accuracy, usability, and smooth synchronization with a centralized MIS platform.
  • Train enumerators and implementing partner field staff on data collection protocols, digital tools, and ethical standards to ensure high quality and reliable data.
  •  Conduct routine data collection to track project performance, adhering to ethical and approved standards.

About you

  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of project management and proven experience in designing and implementing Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems for development programmes.
  • They should demonstrate experience in conducting monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities, as well as proficiency in using Management Information Systems to support programme performance and decision-making.
  • The candidate should also possess practical experience with statistical analysis tools such as SPSS, Stata, R, and Python, alongside strong data visualization skills using platforms like Power BI and Tableau. Experience in designing and deploying digital data collection tools using platforms such as SurveyCTO and CommCare will be an added advantage. Field experience is required to succeed in this role.

About our offer

The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from NGN11,255,100 gross per annum, depending on experience.
