MEGALECTRICS LIMITED is a reputable and wholly owned indigenous company with its headquarters in Lagos. The company was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in July of 2001. Megalectrics was in 2007, granted a Radio Broadcast Licence for Lagos. The company is presently operating three (3) radio stations from our 26, Keffi Street, Ikoyi office. And recently, 2 new stations (The Beat 97.9FM and Naija FM 102.7) were set up in Ibadan, Oyo State; making five (5) radio stations operated by Megalectrics Ltd. The Beat 97.9FM has since April 2013 commenced broadcast, while we await the approval of the apex broadcast body in Nigeria – National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for Naija FM to go on air as soon as possible. These radio stations appeal to different demographics and psychographics.
We are seeking a talented and dynamic individual to join our team as a Radio News Caster. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver news stories in a clear and engaging manner. This role requires staying updated on current events, conducting research, and presenting information accurately and impartially to our audience.
Responsibilities:
- Researching, writing, and editing news stories for radio broadcast
- Gathering information from various sources, including news wires, press releases, and interviews
- Conducting live on-air broadcasts to deliver news updates, breaking news, and special reports
- Collaborating with producers, reporters, and other team members to develop compelling news segments
- Adhering to ethical standards of journalism, including accuracy, fairness, and objectivity
- Monitoring news developments and staying informed about current events
- Engaging with listeners through social media and other platforms to solicit feedback and story ideas
- Participating in editorial meetings to pitch story ideas and discuss coverage priorities
- Maintaining composure and professionalism while delivering news under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or a related field (preferred)
- 5 – 10 years’ experience as a radio news caster, reporter, or journalist
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling news stories for radio
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to deliver news updates in a clear, articulate manner
- Knowledge of radio broadcasting equipment and techniques
- Familiarity with digital audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong multitasking abilities and the capacity to work efficiently under pressure
- Commitment to upholding journalistic standards and ethics
- Passion for staying informed about current events and a dedication to delivering accurate and timely news coverage
