R-DATS Consulting (‘R-DATS’) is a research, evaluation, data collection and statistical services firm. R-DATS uses advanced and innovative research, evaluation, and statistical methods to gather high-quality data and generate strong evidence for impact and improved policy decisions. We support both local and international organizations, businesses, government ministries and agencies, and non-profits. The research, evaluation and data processing activities at R-DATS Consulting are guided by core ethical principles and data privacy standards of our organization, the organization we work for and the country where we are to carry out the assignments.
Responsibilities
- Support the Implementation of R-DATS project development, research, monitoring and evaluation activities. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain extensive hands?on experience in research, survey and data management.
Responsibilities
The Research and Data (NYSC) Intern will be expected to carry out the following activities:
- Assist in conducting research activities (e.g. baseline, impact evaluation, mid-term reviews). These may include to:
- Assist with drafting data collection tools
- Support data collection, entry, validation, and cleaning activities
- Provide support in ensuring that all data quality protocols are followed during data collection and cleaning to ensure the data is of the highest quality.
- Assist in identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks.
- Data collation, basic analysis, visualizations, reporting and dissemination.
- Support business opportunity identification and EOI development.
- Support timely, quality research proposal submissions.
- Work with R-DATS team to develop reports, collate, and disseminate success stories and lessons learnt and well as research communication materials for publications.
- Support in planning on-going day-to-day research activity within the framework of ongoing projects implementation plans.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- A BSc or HND Degree in Statistics, Social Sciences (i.e. Sociology, Demography, Psychology etc.), Public Health, Public Policy, International Development, or related fields.
- Experience in conducting/participating in research, data analysis, data visualizations, monitoring and evaluation of programmes is desirable but not compulsory.
- Attention to detail, with a quality-focused mindset.
- Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse constituencies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and enlist support, when needed.
- Capacity to use Microsoft office suites required.
- Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with data programming, data visualization and statistical software such as Stata, SPSS, R, Tableau, NVIVO, ATLAS Ti, Power BI ODK or SurveyCTO (preferred, but not mandatory)
- Familiarity with qualitative research process, an added advantage.
- Familiarity with large secondary data such as MICS, DHS, NARHS, or sources, an added advantage
- Applicants must have been deployed to Abuja or have plans to redeploy to Abuja. NYSC Corps Members currently in NYSC orientation camp are strongly encouraged to apply.
