Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth market, industry, and customer research to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and competitive dynamics and emerging risks.
  • Analyse market data, customer behaviour, and industry reports to support strategic planning and product development initiatives.
  • Support the development of new products and services, including concept testing, feasibility studies, and market assessments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as underwriting, marketing and operations teams to drive innovation initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging technologies, digital innovations, regulatory developments, and global industry trends that may impact the organization.
  • Prepare comprehensive research reports, presentations, and insight briefs for Executive management and other key business stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for new insurance products, product enhancements, and alternative distribution channels.
  • Assist in feasibility studies for new markets, partnerships, and business models; support the design, testing, and rollout of innovative insurance solutions aligned with customer and market needs.
  • Track the performance and market reception of new or enhanced products and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Support pilot projects, innovation labs, and process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and customer experience.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Sales, IT, and Operations to pilot innovation initiatives.
  • Promote the adoption of digital tools, automation, and process optimisation across the business.
  • Maintain a repository of research materials, market intelligence, and innovation insights for organizational use.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of research methodologies and innovation processes within the organization.

Educational Qualification and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Economics, Business Administration, Research, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g. ACII, CIIN, CIMA, PMP, Data Analytics) is an added advantage.
  • A postgraduate degree or professional certification in research, innovation, or strategy is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years relevant experience in research, market analysis, product development, or innovation-related roles, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting market research, data analysis, and preparing actionable insights.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong research, analytical, and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to identify trends, opportunities, and innovation gaps.
  • Strong report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills (Excel, BI tools, or analytics software)
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and functions.
  • Strong attention to detail and intellectual curiosity.
