Summary:
- We are seeking a skilled staff backend engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our core PHP-based legacy system. You will work alongside our senior engineers to ensure its smooth operation and contribute to ongoing modernisation efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain backend code in PHP for our legacy system.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and product managers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and performance of the legacy system.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the establishment of coding standards.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and learn new technologies as needed.
- Assist with the migration of functionalities from the legacy system to our modern microservices architecture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in backend development with PHP.
- Strong understanding of object-orientated programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL, etc.) and writing efficient SQL queries.
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CDpractices. ]
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
