MTN Nigeria is part of the MTN Group, Africa\'s leading cellular telecommunications company. On May 16, 2001, MTN became the first GSM network to make a call following the globally lauded Nigerian GSM auction conducted by the Nigerian Communications Commission earlier in the year. Thereafter the company launched full commercial operations beginning with Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. MTN paid $285m for one of four GSM licenses in Nigeria in January 2001. To date, in excess of US$1.8 billion has been invested building mobile telecommunications infrastructure in Nigeria. Since launch in August 2001, MTN has steadily deployed its services across Nigeria. It now provides services in 223 cities and towns, more than 10,000 villages and communities and a growing number of highways across the country, spanning the 36 states of the Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Many of these villages and communities are being connected to the world of telecommunications for the first time ever. The company\'s digital microwave transmission backbone, the 3,400 Kilometre Y\'elloBahn was commissioned by President Olusegun Obasanjo in January 2003 and is reputed to be the most extensive digital microwave transmission infrastructure in all of Africa. The Y\'elloBahn has significantly helped to enhance call quality on MTN network.

Mission:

The Senior Manager, Change Management in the Business Assurance team is responsible for leading and coordinating change initiatives-particularly those driven by IT and Network-that impact MTN Nigeria's revenues, costs, margins and customer experience. The role ensures that such changes are well-governed, risk-informed, and successfully embedded across the business to safeguard financial integrity and enhance operational performance. Key aspects of this role include:

  • Driving cross-functional change management for enterprise-wide projects, ensuring financial and operational impacts are identified, assessed, and mitigated.
  • Collaborating with IT, Network, Commercial, and Finance teams to embed risk controls and ensure changes are aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Ensuring business readiness through structured stakeholder engagement, communication, training, and post-implementation monitoring.

Description:

  • Drive change initiatives that support the assurance of revenue, prevention of leakage, and improved return on technology and network investments.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional reviews of business processes and change projects to identify control enhancements and operational efficiencies, targeting measurable cost savings and improved financial outcomes.
  • Provide risk and control insights during contract and vendor reviews, ensuring that financial impacts are well understood, and MTN’s value creation philosophy is upheld.
  • Lead the risk assessment and control integration for enterprise-wide changes, especially those involving IT and Network systems, to ensure financial and operational risks are identified, prioritized, and mitigated during planning and execution.
  • Serve as the key Business Assurance representative in change governance forums, providing control and risk insights during the design and rollout of new systems, products, or platforms to prevent revenue leakage and operational disruption.
  • Continuously review and enhance internal policies, processes, and procedures to ensure changes are aligned with best practices, evolving business needs, and MTN Nigeria’s commitment to financial integrity and margin protection.
  • Support the GM in defining a transformation roadmap for Business Assurance, with clear milestones that strengthen cross-functional collaboration, embed ownership of controls, and promote a culture of risk-aware execution.
  • Collaborate with other business units in the development of business models for use in MTNN and develop measurement strategies to support ongoing strategy development and project optimization.
  • Review the performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.
  • Coach and train Revenue Assurance team to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the department, awareness of set targets/requirements and regularly review their training needs.

Education:

  • First degree in Data Analytics/Engineering/Accounting/Finance/Audit/Numerate Disciplines
  • Advantageous–Post Graduate Qualification – CISA/CISM/CRISK/MBA/ACA/ACCA/Fraud Certification (CFE).
  • Advantageous–Previous telecom/banking fraud experience.
  • Fluent in English

Experience:

9 - 17 years’ work experience which includes the following:

  • At least 5 years in a Fraud Management role in a global telecommunications company.
  • At least 5 years in relevant sector/ industry relevant role, i.e. banking, finance, technology.
  • Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with experience working in emerging markets.
  • At least 2 years of experience in systems audit and/or advisory organizations.
  • Proven track record of technology transformation involvement and part of the delivery team.
