Web Engineer at LemFi (Formerly Lemonade Finance)

LemFi (Formerly Lemonade Finance)Lagos, Nigeria Software Development
Full Time

Lemonade Finance (YC S21) is building a neobank for immigrants in North America & Europe. We provide our users with multi-currency accounts that allow them to hold, send, and receive money from Africa in any currency for their business and personal banking needs. There are over 10 million Africans living in North America & Europe who go through hoops and have to pay exorbitant fees to send money to their loved ones. We are constantly fighting for everyday Africans to be able to move their money freely around the world at no cost and with the best exchange rate they can find out there. We launched the first version of the app at the beginning of October 2020 with just the ability to send money. Now, we enable our users to send and receive as well as pay bills for services across the ocean for loved ones. We have also grown to a team of more than 25 people working remotely and living on different continents

The Role

  • You will be a full-stack engineer with main focus on Frontend working on LemFi’s operational "brain", designing the internal software that automates our most critical financial processes. Your mission is to transform complex, high-volume back-office tasks like payments operations, fraud investigations, and regulatory reporting into streamlined, front-end functionality.
  • You won’t just be building tools; you’ll create efficient internal interfaces that empower our operations teams to move faster and with greater precision. By embedding AI and agentic automation into every workflow, you’ll ensure that managing global money movement is as intelligent and effortless as the user experience it supports.

How You'll Contribute

  • Build & Ship: Design and deliver high-quality, scalable web features using Vue.js, with a strong focus on efficiency, security, and maintainability.
  • Own the Experience: Take end-to-end responsibility for features from technical design and implementation to testing, deployment, and production support.
  • BFF Development: Implement and maintain backend-for-frontend logic in TypeScript, shaping APIs and data models that serve the needs of the web client efficiently and securely.
  • Ensure Reliability: Uphold high engineering standards through automated testing, clean code practices, and proactive monitoring of frontend and BFF services.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Impact: Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to deliver compliant, customer-centric financial experiences aligned with regulatory requirements.

Who You Are

  • Impact-Driven: You focus on delivering meaningful user and business outcomes, not just shipping features.
  • Technically Grounded: You have strong experience building business-oriented web applications and are comfortable working with TypeScript on the backend for BFF logic.
  • High Ownership: You take responsibility for your work from concept through production and continuously look for ways to improve what you’ve built.
  • Collaborative: You communicate clearly with Product, Design, and Engineering, valuing shared success over individual credit.
  • Curious: You actively seek feedback and stay up to date with modern frontend patterns, AI tooling, and best practices.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience building production web apps with Vue.js & Nuxt.js
  • Strong TypeScript skills, including BFF development
  • Proficient in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SASS
  • Experience working with and shaping REST APIs
  • Solid understanding of modern frontend architecture, state management & performance optimisation
  • Familiar with Git, testing frameworks (Jest/Mocha), build tools & CI/CD
  • Working knowledge of cloud environments & Docker
  • Hands-on experience using LLMs for coding and daily workflows
