Background:

  • The ICIR seeks  a highly skilled Developer to develop our NativeAI for Newsrooms, an innovative AI-driven tool designed to transcribe audio-visual content into text and also translate English texts into three major Nigerian languages (Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba). This project aims to optimize the way newsrooms operate, promote inclusivity and bridge language gaps in Nigeria’s diverse media landscape.

Job Description:

As a Developer, you will play a crucial role in developing and training our AI model to understand Nigerian accents, transcribe audio-visual content into texts, and translate English texts into three major Nigerian languages. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and training AI models to transcribe audio visuals into text and translate the text into three major Nigerian languages (Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba) using machine learning frameworks and libraries.
  • Conducting research on Nigerian accents and languages to improve AI model accuracy.
  • Collaborating with our team to design and deploy the NativeAI for Newsrooms technology
  • Ensuring the AI model is efficient, scalable, reliable and secure

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field
  • Proven experience in AI development, machine learning, natural language processing and large language modelling (LLM).
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
