Job Description

  • We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Chief Technology Officer to join our founding team.
  • We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Chief Technology Officer.
  • Ideally, we want someone with previous startup and enterprise who has experience in all phases of the Technology execution process.
  • Africa is the world's youngest continent and expanding the fastest.
  • The number of young people working in Africa will rise to 375 million by 2030.
  • The individuals who will be hired at this position will be given a significant amount of equity given that the company is at execution stage.
  • The person will be working fully remotely on a part-time basis while continuing their current job until we begin generating revenue and secure funding.
  • We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Chief Technology Officer. Ideally, this is a growing startup, there is no salary until we can start generating revenue and funding. Founder is open to team members having a main job until funding and revenue is secured.
  • We are seeking a Chief Technology Officer. This individual may have the opportunity to work on business/Technology systems, infrastructure, and transformation projects. The person in this role may manage Technology and Technology Related Information. This position location is LAGOS, though the team currently work a remote schedule.
  • The CTO will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company.
  • You will work closely with the executive team to define and implement the technological vision and strategy.
  • Your role will include managing the development and deployment of technology platforms, overseeing the engineering team, and ensuring that the company’s technology serves its business strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Technology Strategy: Develop and implement the company’s technology strategy in alignment with business goals, ensuring the technology roadmap supports growth and innovation.
  • Product Development: Lead and manage the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products and features.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Technology Operations: Oversee the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and supports business operations effectively.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and assessing their potential impact on the company.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including marketing, sales, and operations, to ensure technology initiatives align with business needs and customer requirements.
  • Budget Management: Manage the technology budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial goals.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technology-related risks, including cybersecurity threats, data privacy concerns, and technical debt.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a strong background in software development, product management, and IT operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a technical team, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
  •  Deep understanding of software development, cloud computing, data management, cybersecurity, and other relevant technologies.
  • Ability to think strategically and translate business goals into actionable technology plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
