Pagatech was founded in early 2009 with a vision to enable a cashless society and bank the unbanked in Africa. Our first product offering, Paga, is a direct to consumer mobile payments service. Paga is an innovative, open, secure, and interoperable mobile payments platform that allows any person who has a mobile phone to transact electronically - thus turning the mobile phone into an electronic wallet.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • The Communications Analyst will be a member of the Corporate Communications team responsible for all internal and external communications and media related activities for Paga.

 

  • Internal communications focus on messaging across the entire organization the various activities of the Company to ensure that employees have the information they need to perform their jobs.
  • External communication focuses on various stakeholders in the Paga ecosystem – Agents, Business Partners, Regulators, and consumers. The team is also responsible for managing the public reputation of the company. The team is part of the Marketing department and the candidate will report to the corporate communications team lead.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Communication & Content Creation:

  • Contribute to the formulation of the company's communication strategy, ensuring all activities align with the overall strategic direction.
  • Manage Paga's social media presence, creating engaging content that resonates with our target audience and drives brand awareness.
  • Participate in the development of monthly company internal and quarterly agent newsletters, providing editorial direction, generating content, and supervising distribution.
  • Write and distribute press releases.

Internal & External Communications:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to keep employees informed, engaged, and aligned with company goals. Work closely with Senior Leadership and HR teams to ensure all Paga information and announcements reach internal stakeholders effectively.
  • Work closely with Sales/Marketing/Product teams to cascade Paga information and announcements to customers, agents, and partners. Ensure adequate communication reaches other key stakeholders like regulators and consumers.
  • Develop strategic PR plans and execute diligently to further the strategic goals of the organization.

Project Management: (Focus on core communication competencies)

  • Oversee agency partnerships and champion event and vendor management, ensuring cost-effectiveness and seamless collaboration.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field (2-3 years of relevant experience preferred).
  • Proven experience developing and executing strategic communication plans across various channels (internal comms, social media etc.).
  • Strong understanding of social media marketing principles and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for crafting clear and compelling messages.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical abilities to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media management platforms
  • Must have completed the mandatory NYSC
