Job Summary

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Computer Operator/Typesetter/Layout Designer to join our publishing team.
  • The successful candidate will be proficient in the use of CorelDraw, Photoshop, InDesign, PageMaker, and other design software to create high-quality layouts and designs for our publications.
  • The ideal candidate will have excellent file management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and layout of publications, including classroom books and other materials using In Design, CorelDraw, Photoshop, and Page Maker.
  • Typesetting and formatting of text and images to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Management of files, including organization, backup, and version control.
  • Collaboration with editors, and other designers to ensure design consistency and accuracy.
  • Troubleshooting of design and layout issues.
  • Meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work under pressure.
  • Staying up-to-date with new design software and technologies.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess an OND with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in CorelDraw, Photoshop, In Design, PageMaker, and other design software.
  • Excellent file management and organization skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under tight schedules.
  • Knowledge of printing processes and requirements.
  • Relevant experience in a publishing or design environment.
  • Professional understanding of editorial signs and symbols, including:
  • Proofreading marks (e.g. delete, insert and move)
  • Typesetting symbols (e.g. font styles, sizes, and spacing)
  • Layout and design notation (e.g. margins, gutters, and bleeds)
  • Ability to interpret and apply editorial instructions and style guides.
