The Role

  • We are looking for a passionate junior engineer to join our core team. As part of the core engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing the fundamental services and infrastructure that power our innovative products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality and scalable software solutions that have a direct impact on our clients and business operations.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be

System Design & Architecture:

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of core backend services and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to align system design with business needs.

Development & Optimization:

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using best practices for backend services and APIs.
  • Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability, ensuring low latency and high throughput for real-time financial applications.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with the DevOps, product, and data teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of new features.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, grooming, and retrospectives.

Problem-Solving:

  • Tackle complex technical challenges related to transaction processing, security, scalability, and system performance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve performance and reliability issues in production environments.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all code and systems adhere to regulatory standards, including security best practices and data privacy compliance (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
  • Implement security measures to protect sensitive financial data and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure personal information of customers, employees, and other individuals the company conducts business with is processed and protected in line with applicable data privacy policies, privacy laws, and global best practices.

Required competency and skillset to be a Waver

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2years of experience in software engineering, preferably in fintech or a highly regulated industry.
  • Strong experience working with backend technologies, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Strong understanding of API design, RESTful services, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with fintech applications like payment gateways, trading platforms, or core banking systems.
  • Knowledge of security protocols, encryption, and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOX compliance).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset, with a passion for continuous learning and keeping up with the latest technologies.
