About the Role

  • We are seeking a full-time Data Analytics Manager to join our team. We are looking for someone eager to conduct data analysis, share their expertise, and build upon a tradition of evaluation and data excellence at NewGlobe.
  • The Data Analytics Manager is responsible for leading a team of analysts and supporting the data analysis of different descriptive analyses within the organisation.
  • The Data Analytics Manager will be the first point of contact in terms of supporting the other analysts’ work.
  • S/he will be expected to have sharp analytical skills while also successfully managing other people’s work streams and empirical needs, including the support of each of their data pipelines through code checks, pressure testing of analyses and feedback on specific outputs.
  • As such, the ideal candidate will have a balance between technical skills and interpersonal skills that allow them to lead and coach a team of analysts.
  • Similarly, the Data Analytics Manager will work closely with the Director of Data Analytics in planning future data work and, as such, is interested in getting involved in the details of team management.

What You Will Do

  • Support other analysts with their analyses. The Data Analytics Manager is excited about providing technical support for the other Analysts on their team as they develop their own analytical skills.
  • Create analyses and briefs themselves. The Data Analytics Manager will also lead their own data analyses as they answer questions from a wide range of topics such as staff attendance, pupil enrolment, and teacher classroom coverage, among others.
  • Manage, ideate, and follow up with creating and maintaining proper data pipelines and best data management practices.
  • Contribute to a culture of data-driven decision-making by collaborating with various team members across territories.
  • Accommodate requests for quick analyses. Time-sensitive questions will come from the VPs and C-Level Executives and usually take a few hours to a few days. Oftentimes, you will need to direct your staff to use their best judgement in the face of imperfect data.
  • Other duties as required by the Directors, VPs, and C-level executives.

What You Should Have

  • High data literacy and a strong background in econometrics and/or statistics. Previous experience includes being a senior data analyst or data manager. Experience in data cleaning, analysis, and/or visualisation.
  • A high level of proficiency with Stata or SAS, SQL, and Excel. Any other data analysis software or coding language is a plus. Experience with survey software like Google Forms or Kobo Surveys is also a plus.
  • Master's degree – in a relevant academic discipline, for example (but not limited to) Public or Education Policy, Statistics, or Economics.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex ideas for non-technical audiences – you will need effective verbal and written communication skills to provide valuable insights and research reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expertise in analysis of qualitative data. Besides strong quantitative skills, you will also need experience conducting qualitative analysis skills. Experience includes, but is not limited to, coding/theming data and narrative analysis.
  • Minimum of 7 years as a data analyst and 3 years as a manager.

  • Bonus – experience in extreme growth situations and dealing with complexity; worked/studied in a developing country, worked in a no-excuses charter school in high-poverty areas in the U.S., and/or experience implementing data collection projects, particularly for impact evaluations.
