What you will do

  • Perform racking, stacking, cabling, and decommissioning of Data Center Hardware devices.
  • Perform break-fix support (e.g. power cycles, physical environment, and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, hardware upgrades, testing of copper and fibre cables, handling storage media etc.).
  • Able to install components to server and networking devices such as memory, SSDs, CPU, expansion cards, modules and so forth.
  • Perform cross-connect patching and labelling per standard methodologies.
  • Handle tickets for local support and implementation purposes and perform tasks as detailed in MOP.
  • Maintains inventory, labelling of equipment and removal of decommissioned hardware.
  • Maintains an adequate spare parts inventory of systems, subsystems, and component parts used in repair work.
  • Knowledge of assembling, deploying, and solving Network and Server hardware
  • Strong Verbal and Written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, cleanliness and an appreciation for simplicity Requirements and Qualifications

You will bring

  • Minimum of B.Sc/HND or equivalent experience in Computer Engineering or related.
  • Creative problem-solving skills: you will be expected to come up with solutions to problems at hand, opposed to waiting for orders
  • Experience working in a modern, large-scale data centre
  • Strong documentation and logistics mentality
  • Attention to detail, cleanliness and an appreciation for simplicity
  • Ability to read and interpret cable matrix to correctly lace cables port to port.
  • Ability to identify basic parts of network equipment – SFPs, line cards, chassis
  • Ability to identify basic parts of servers – memory, network card, hard drives
  • Knowledge of structured cabling systems using cat 5, cat 6, multi-mode and single-mode fiber
  • Familiarity with both power and communications cabling standards
  • Experience configuring and using cable testers for both fiber and copper to solve cabling issues
