Job Description

The Editor for New Productions will play a key role in shaping the content and direction of the newspaper's new initiatives, including special editions, digital projects, and multimedia productions. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for quality, a passion for innovative storytelling, and the ability to manage multiple projects from conception through publication. The role requires close collaboration with writers, designers, and other editors to ensure the highest editorial standards are met across all new content formats.

Key Responsibilities

Content Development & Strategy:  

  • Lead the editorial development of new production lines including special editions, multimedia content, and online series.
  • Conceptualize and implement innovative editorial projects that align with the company’s vision and target audience.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing and digital teams, to develop strategies for promoting new content.

  Editing & Quality Control:  

  • Oversee the editing process for all new productions, ensuring content meets high quality, accuracy, and integrity standards.
  • Work with writers, designers, and photographers to enhance storytelling across platforms (print, online, multimedia).
  • Ensure all content is factchecked, grammatically correct, and adheres to the newspaper's editorial guidelines.

 Team Management & Collaboration:  

  • Lead and mentor a team of writers, content creators, and junior editors.
  • Manage editorial timelines and coordinate the flow of content between departments.
  • Assign and review work, providing constructive feedback to improve quality and creativity.

Innovative Storytelling:  

  • Explore and implement new forms of storytelling, including visual, audio, and interactive content.

Content Planning & Execution:  

  • Plan content schedules and oversee production timelines to meet publishing deadlines.
  • Ensure a cohesive and engaging narrative is maintained across multiple projects.

 Stakeholder Engagement:  

  • Liaise with external contributors, freelancers, and content partners to source highquality content.
  • Coordinate with the marketing and advertising teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Compliance & Ethical Standards:  

  • Ensure compliance with copyright laws, intellectual property rights, and ethical journalism standards.
  • Uphold editorial policies and enforce standards to maintain journalistic integrity and the newspaper’s reputation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of editorial experience, preferably in a newspaper or media house.
  • Proven track record in leading content initiatives and editorial teams.
  • Strong editorial judgment and an eye for detail.
  • Experience in multimedia content production (audio, video, digital).
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital content trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
