MTN Nigeria is part of the MTN Group, Africa\'s leading cellular telecommunications company. On May 16, 2001, MTN became the first GSM network to make a call following the globally lauded Nigerian GSM auction conducted by the Nigerian Communications Commission earlier in the year. Thereafter the company launched full commercial operations beginning with Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. MTN paid $285m for one of four GSM licenses in Nigeria in January 2001. To date, in excess of US$1.8 billion has been invested building mobile telecommunications infrastructure in Nigeria. Since launch in August 2001, MTN has steadily deployed its services across Nigeria. It now provides services in 223 cities and towns, more than 10,000 villages and communities and a growing number of highways across the country, spanning the 36 states of the Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Many of these villages and communities are being connected to the world of telecommunications for the first time ever. The company\'s digital microwave transmission backbone, the 3,400 Kilometre Y\'elloBahn was commissioned by President Olusegun Obasanjo in January 2003 and is reputed to be the most extensive digital microwave transmission infrastructure in all of Africa. The Y\'elloBahn has significantly helped to enhance call quality on MTN network.

Mission:

  • To establish and maintain strategic technical interconnect and roaming partnerships with networks and carriers, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance, with a focus on international and national roaming, MVNO, and RAN sharing.

Description:

  • Manage expertise and resource planning for assignments related to Roaming, MVNO, and RAN Sharing, special projects, and management requests.
  • Oversee the progress of assignments and escalate any roadblocks to the Manager for resolution.
  • Ensure adherence to methodologies prescribed by Group Tech and Bayobab, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing, and analyzing evidence, and documenting processes and procedures related to Roaming, MVNO, and RAN Sharing.
  • Supervise and manage staff in conducting interviews, reviewing documents, developing and administering surveys, composing summary memos, and preparing working papers or operations.
  • Implement programs, recognize control weaknesses, assess their materiality, and relate them back to the scope and objectives of the tasks.
  • Review programs to ensure appropriate testing mechanisms.
  • Oversee the identification, development, and documentation of issues and recommendations for improvement, as guided by the Manager Carriers, Senior Manager-Core Network Planning (CNP) and GM, Network Core and Transmission Planning (NCTP).
  • Develop recommendations to bring programs and operations into compliance with goals and objectives and document findings in reports.
  • Communicate the results, findings, and recommendations of projects through written reports and face-to-face presentations to the Manager Carrier Relations.
  • Follow up on the implementation of recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Perform control adequacy and effectiveness reviews of business processes related to Roaming, MVNO, and RAN Sharing.
  • Interact with staff, Manager, General Managers, and Executive Management to obtain and communicate relevant information to achieve the objectives of the Roaming, MVNO, and RAN Sharing function.
  • Involvement in CNP process designs.
  • Report on an ad-hoc basis on specific projects as necessary to Peers, Manager and Leadership as need arises.
  • Lead engagements related to Roaming, MVNO, and RAN Sharing initiatives within Network Group as assigned.

Education:

  • First degree in a related discipline (e.g., Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science)
  • Fluent in English.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCIA, NFVI, PMP etc. will be a plus.

Experience:

3-7 years of experience, including:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an area of specialization related to telecommunications, roaming, MVNO, or RAN sharing, with experience in supervising others
  • Experience working in a medium to large organization
  • Experience in internal audit function is a plus
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage relationships with network partners
