Action Against Hunger | ACF International, a global humanitarian organization committed to ending world hunger, works to save the lives of malnourished children while providing communities with access to safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger.
Action Against Hunger is currently looking to fill the role of Enumerator who will be responsible for supporting the Monitoring & Evaluation and/or Programs teams in the collection of qualitative and quantitative data. They will ensure the accuracy of the data collected. The enumerator will conduct activities such as registration, verification of beneficiaries, and household surveys under the direct supervision of Action Against Hunger staff members, using paper or mobile data collection tools.

Work location: Borno State
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct mobile or paper data collection depending on the activity;
- Transcribe and take notes from phone interviews when required;
- Ask questions in a clear and kind manner, and ask all the questions exactly as worded;
- Provide live translation of data collection tools;
- Interpret interview results to third party when necessary;
- Interpret the interview findings in English;
- Transcribe the answer in an ordinate and clear way by recording responses accurately;
- Probe to clarify unclear respondents' answers when necessary;
- Adhere to survey methodologies trained on by Action Against Hunger teams;
- Ensure proper handling of mobile data collection devices under their responsibility;
- Report any cases or complaints formulated by beneficiaries to the accountability unit;
- Provide feedback and complaint forms for stakeholders, if required;
- Give feedback to field supervisors after each day of data collection.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate/Diploma in any science or social sciences or any other relevant field;
- At least one experience in field data collection and related activities;
- Fluency in English and local languages especially Hausa, Kanuri, Shuwa, and Fulani (both written and spoken skills);
- Previous working experience in multiple languages interpretation and translation skills;
- Possess good interpersonal skills – able to work with diverse stakeholders and partners effectively;
- Previous experience in the use of smartphone data collection;
- Have a good capacity to work in a team;
- Have demonstrated experience and knowledge of survey procedures and data quality techniques;
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Have a good understanding and knowledge of the local situation and community dynamics including cultural, gender, and protection issues, including the ability to effectively convey information in local languages.
