Executive Communications Lead at Flutterwave

FlutterwaveLagos, Nigeria Digital Marketing
Full Time

Our mission is to power a new wave of prosperity across Africa. By enabling global digital payments on a continent that’s been largely cut off from the digital economy, we’re creating the infrastructure to power Africa’s growth in the 21st Century. Founded in 2016 by a team of ex-bankers, entrepreneurs and engineers, we provide the underlying technology platform that allows businesses to make and accept payments anywhere in Africa. Our HQ is in San Francisco with offices in Lagos, Nairobi, Accra, and Johannesburg

Flutterwave is hiring an Executive Communications Lead to drive strategic executive communications. This role is responsible for shaping, amplifying, and protecting the executive’s public voice across digital platforms, media engagements, speaking opportunities, and high-level events.

  • Draft high-quality content including speeches, keynote scripts, opinion articles, social media posts, press quotes, internal messages, and talking points.
  • Own messaging and narrative development for key announcements, product launches, partnerships, and industry commentary involving the executive.

  • Coordinate media interviews, podcasts, panel appearances, and industry engagements in collaboration with PR and Communications teams.
  • Monitor public sentiment, media coverage, and social engagement related to the executive and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Develop thought leadership initiatives that position the executive as an authority in fintech, payments, innovation, and the African digital economy.
  • Collaborate with Design, Marketing, Product, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure messaging accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Prepare briefing documents and communication playbooks ahead of public engagements and major stakeholder interactions.
  • Manage crisis communication support specific to executive visibility, ensuring proactive and reactive messaging alignment.
  • Track performance metrics (engagement, reach, media mentions, sentiment) and provide regular reporting on executive brand impact.
  • Maintain a forward-looking communications calendar aligned with business priorities and industry moments.
  • Ensure personal information of customers, employees, and partners is processed and protected in line with data privacy laws and global best practices

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in executive communications, corporate communications, brand strategy, public relations, or related roles—preferably within fintech, technology, or high-growth environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing brand communications for senior executives or C-suite leaders.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editorial skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences (media, investors, customers, regulators, internal teams).
  • Strong understanding of social media strategy, digital storytelling, and thought leadership positioning.
  • Experience managing high-profile speaking engagements and executive-level events.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate business priorities into compelling narratives.
  • Ability to work with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times.
