Our client is a facilities-based telecommunications services provider that has invested heavily in “next generation” networking technologies to build a multi-service network platform. Due to expansion, they need a FIELD SUPPORT ENGINEER.

Location: Lagos

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring uptime at assigned POPs and also managing and ensuring that proactive testing, fault diagnostics, and resolution are carried out.
  • Monitor network performance locally as well as over the air interface
  • Provide specialist technical support to all other departments in the organization regarding network and radio-related problems
  • Coordinate and perform maintenance of cell sites strictly managed by the company, and liaise with vendors on the maintenance of cell sites not directly managed by the company.
  • Responsible for the configuration and bench testing of new products and giving ATP (Authority To Proceed) concerning those products
  • Technical point of contact between the company and vendors regarding radio and microwave equipment-related RMA issues.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree 2nd Class Honors (Upper division) in the Engineering discipline or any other Computer related field.
  • Telecom experience will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with management, other employees and vendors.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of complex instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Demonstrated experience with business productivity applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with data and telecommunications equipment.
  • Able to work on-time driven deadlines in a high-pressure environment. 
  • This position requires the maintenance of CISCO products and strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network monitoring, trending tools.
  • Experience with WAN/LAN technologies and protocols, OSPF, RIP, BGP, HSRP, VPN, Switching, Trunking. VLAN, NAT, PAT, ACL, SNMP, T1, T3, DSL, ISDN, dial backups, leased lines and structured cabling.
