Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst (Writer) who is passionate about finance, markets, and storytelling. This role blends financial expertise with strong editorial skills. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of Nigeria’s financial landscape, experience in reporting or financial writing, and a knack for creating engaging and insightful content that resonates with our diverse audience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver in-depth analysis and commentary on financial markets, economic trends, investment strategies, and government policies.
- Write clear, accurate, and timely articles, reports, and features across a range of financial and economic topics.
- Cover all relevant Nigerian financial regulators and institutions (e.g., CBN, SEC, NSX), providing updates and insight.
- Monitor financial markets and ensure daily news coverage, including timely reporting of breaking news.
- Attend industry events, press briefings, and corporate functions, representing Nairametrics and conducting interviews with key stakeholders.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Nigeria’s macroeconomic environment, market regulations, and financial instruments.
- Create original content and enhance existing content using SEO best practices to increase audience reach and engagement.
- Collaborate with the editorial and research teams to brainstorm and develop story ideas that align with Nairametrics’ goals.
- Build and maintain a strong network of industry contacts to support reporting and deepen insight on assigned beats.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Journalism, Accounting, or a related field.
- ICAN, ACCA, or other relevant professional certification is highly desirable.
- At least 3 years of writing experience in digital or print media is required.
- Proven knowledge of financial markets, economic policy, and regulatory bodies.
- Strong command of English, with excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and simplify complex financial data for various audiences.
- Effective storytelling skills
