About the Position
- We seek a talented and enthusiastic GIS Analyst to join our team.
- The ideal candidate will play a vital role in harnessing the power of spatial data to inform our projects across health, agriculture, and energy, supporting effective decision-making and impactful development interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret geospatial data from various sources (government agencies, surveys, remote sensing, open-source repositories, etc.)
- Develop and maintain spatial databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Conduct spatial analysis using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) to identify patterns, trends, and relationships.
- Create high-quality maps, charts, and visualizations to communicate complex spatial information effectively.
- Conduct field data collection using GPS and GIS tools (when required).
- Support project teams with GIS expertise, providing technical advice and guidance.
- Contribute to proposals and technical reports related to GIS applications.
- Stay current with emerging GIS technologies and trends.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Minimum of two years cognate experience working with GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS preferred)
- Strong understanding of geospatial concepts and analytical methods.
- Excellent data management and visualization skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working in the development sector, specifically with healthcare, agriculture, or energy, would be a plus.
Useful Skills:
- Experience working in development consulting or donor organizations is an added advantage.
- Experience with remote sensing data analysis.
- Programming skills (Python, R).
- Knowledge of relevant development frameworks and methodologies
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
