Job Description
The Hausa News Producers will be responsible for conceiving, developing, and producing high-quality news content in the Hausa language across various multimedia platforms. The role will ensure the timely, accurate, and engaging delivery of Hausa news that meets the information needs of the Hausa-speaking audience in Nigeria and beyond, adhering to the journalistic standards and editorial guidelines of Quantum Expressions Media Consult LTD.
Core Responsibilities
Hausa News Gathering and Sourcing:
- Identify, research, and verify news stories and information relevant to Hausa-speaking audiences in Nigeria and potentially the wider Hausa-speaking world, utilizing various sources including news wires, social media monitoring tools, community contacts, and user-generated content.
- Monitor Hausa language news outlets and social media platforms to identify trending stories and potential leads, employing digital newsgathering techniques.
- Cultivate and maintain a network of reliable sources within Hausa-speaking communities to gather firsthand information and insights.
- Ensure all sourced information is verified for accuracy and credibility before being used in news production, adhering to established fact-checking protocols.
Hausa Content Creation and Editing:
- Write clear, concise, and accurate Hausa news scripts, articles, and social media updates that adhere to the company’s editorial style and journalistic standards for Hausa language content.
- Edit Hausa news copy for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and accuracy, ensuring linguistic correctness and cultural appropriateness for the target audience.
- Produce multimedia news content in Hausa, including video scripts, audio reports, and text-based stories optimized for various digital platforms.
- Select and incorporate relevant visuals (images, videos, graphics) to enhance Hausa news stories and engage the audience effectively across different media.
Hausa Story Development and Planning:
- Develop and pitch original Hausa news stories and angles that resonate with Hausa-speaking audiences, utilizing real-time consumer data and understanding their information needs and preferences.
- Plan and coordinate news coverage for upcoming events and developing stories relevant to Hausa speakers, ensuring adequate resource allocation and logistical arrangements.
- Collaborate with Hausa News Casters and reporters to develop story treatments, interview questions, and on-air presentation strategies for Hausa news segments.
- Utilize data analytics to identify content gaps and audience interests within the Hausa-speaking demographic, informing future story development.
Hausa Multimedia Production and Platform Adaptation:
- Oversee the production process of Hausa news content across various formats, including video editing, audio editing, and the integration of graphics and subtitles in Hausa.
- Ensure Hausa news content is optimized for delivery across multiple platforms, including on-demand services, potential broadcast channels, social media, web, and mobile applications, considering the technical specifications and audience behavior on each platform.
- Utilize content management systems (CMS) to publish and manage Hausa news content across digital platforms efficiently.
- Stay updated on best practices for multimedia content creation and delivery for digital audiences, adapting techniques for the Hausa-speaking market.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Theatre Arts, Journalism, English or related field
Professional Requirements
- Membership in relevant professional journalism bodies is an advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 0-3 years of proven experience as a news anchor, reporter, or presenter delivering news in Hausa for a reputable media organization
