Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive trading strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives and market dynamics.
- Oversee the execution of trading activities, including buying, selling, and hedging of oil and gas commodities.
- Assess and manage various types of risks inherent in commodity trading, including market, credit, operational, and regulatory risks.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis and research to identify trading opportunities and forecast price movements.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions for trading contracts, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms. Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate contractual risks.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with counterparties, suppliers, customers, and financial institutions involved in trading activities.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of traders, analysts, and support staff.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards governing commodity trading activities. Develop and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures to uphold ethical standards and mitigate compliance risks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
- Proven track record of success in commodity trading within the oil and gas industry, with at least 15 years of relevant experience in a senior leadership role.
