Establishment The National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) was established by the National Postgraduate Medical College Decree No. 67 of 24th September,1979, now Cap N59 Laws of the Federation 2004, as is a body corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal. It was set up as the the tertiary institution at the apex of Medical Education in Nigeria and its main function is to produce specialists in all branches of Medicine and Dentistry. This is done through the organisation of the curricula fpor professional postgraduate education in the various specialized branches of medicine and dentistry; and the conduct of professional postgraduate examination of candidates to certify them as Specialists. These specialists are the Consultants in Tertiary Health Institutions and Lecturers in the Universities’ Medical and Dental Schools. Functions The functions of the College include but are not limited to the following: -The accreditation of training institutions for professional postgraduate training of doctors and dentists with the periodic publication of a list of such accredited institutions. -The organization of professional postgraduate training programmes and development of curricula as well as the conduct of update courses for training in the various specialized branches of medicine and dentistry, as represented by the various faculties of the College. -The conduct of professional postgraduate examinations for candidates in the various Faculties. -Organization of one year Clinical Attachment (training abroad) for qualified resident doctors. -Carrying out any other activities necessary in the furtherance of postgraduate medical education and quality healthcare in Nigeria.
Requirements
- Candidate must possess Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science / Studies or Data Processing from a recognized Institution.
- NYSC discharged certificate or exemption certificate.
