Job Description
- The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
- This role involves working with various hardware and software systems, providing technical support to end-users, and collaborating with other IT team members to implement and improve IT solutions.
Responsibilities
System Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and storage systems.
- Monitor system performance and ensure the availability and reliability of IT services.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups.
Network Administration:
- Manage network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Ensure network security by implementing and maintaining security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues and outages.
User Support:
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, including setting up user accounts, email, and access permissions.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on IT systems and best practices.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
- Monitor for security breaches and respond to incidents promptly.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Project Management:
- Participate in planning and executing IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to procure and implement IT solutions.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Maintenance and Optimization:
- Conduct regular maintenance checks and preventive measures to ensure system health.
- Optimize system performance and resource utilization.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT systems administration or a similar role.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) are preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux servers.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
