Job Description:
- Mavin is currently looking for a qualified A&R manager who will oversee and coordinate with the Head of the department on the business’s goals, targets, and other administrative aspects for the A&R department. Our ideal candidate should be an intelligent, flexible, proactive, organized, and independent person with proven years of experience in leadership.
- As an A&R Manager, you have a keen ear for musical and vocal talent, and the ability to stand behind your decision with sound reasoning and critical thinking. Traditionally, this was a male-dominated position, but this trend has changed dramatically in recent years – good news for women in the music industry!
Here is what you will be doing:
- Prepare written correspondence and communicate internally and to third parties (Producers, Artists managers, Lawyers, etc.)
- Implement new strategies in scouting for creatives and talents
- A&R management: overseeing the creative development of our artists and writers, contributing to the release schedule, establishing strategic collaborations (co-writes, sessions, features, remixes, collaborations, getting songs cut by others), constructively critiquing music.
- Remix management: managing, procuring, and facilitating remix opportunities, both incoming and procured.
- Trend watching & signing new talent: monitoring playlists, streaming platforms, and charts and following the industry news to discover new signings and collaborative ideas.
- Industry relationship management: creating, maintaining, and maximizing relationships with artists, songwriters, publishers, labels, and other managers, including data entry in the associated relationship databases.
- Organize and attend shows and showcases of both signed and unsigned artists
- Coordinate album recording sessions
- Prepare monthly reports
What you need to land this role:
- Minimum 4 years of creative experience
- Strong understanding of recording, production, and creative side of the music business
- General knowledge of key industry players and familiarity with all music
- Good ear for music. You’ve been discovering the best new music for years and following the most influential Spotify playlists.
- People person. You’re outgoing, like networking, and taking initiative and are often found at industry events and shows. You have an existing network of industry professionals and artists.
- Go-getter. You’re diligent and do not wait to be told what to do. You don’t mind working late or doing whatever it takes to get the job done
- Punctual, good with deadlines, and representative in the spoken and written word.
- Global mindset and approach towards work and projects is a must
