Key Responsibilities
As Journalist you will originate and produce, as part of a team, a wide variety of news and current affairs content for Gist Nigeria. You will use a range of video, audio and digital technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver output to the highest professional standards.
- The role may entail presenting the content on a platform, either live or recorded.
- You’ll exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas, producing accurate and impartial journalism; undertaking pre/post-production and studio work, live and pre-recorded.
- At time taking the lead within a team setting or on delivering a specific piece of journalism or project and have the knowledge on how to tailor news treatments for different audiences ensuring that the output reflects the audiences we serve.
- You’ll prioritise and plan activities, taking into account all the relevant issues and factors such as deadlines, staffing and resources available and work to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
Are you the right candidate?
You will have significant experience working as a journalist, especially within a digital environment and have excellent knowledge of production techniques. In addition you will have:
- Good command of English, both written and verbal, and communicate in at least one Nigerian language.
- Adept at building great working relationships and comfortable working across different teams.
- Effective planning and organising skills, as you will be concentrating on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance, particularly under pressure to meet deadlines and changing priorities and circumstances.
