  • Santabella Music Empire, a fast rising player in Nigeria's dynamic music industry, is seeking a highly competent and experienced Licensing and Publishing Manager to join our team.
  • As a label committed to excellence and innovation, we are looking for an individual with a proven track record in managing licensing and publishing operations within reputable companies in the music industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research on licensing and publishing opportunities locally and internationally.
  • Identify industry trends, developing strategies to maximize the value and exposure of our music catalog.
  • Review of external Artist release agreements, feature agreements, side artist agreements, split sheets, and other incidental release agreements.
  • Registering catalogue with publishing partners
  • Reviewing licensing requests
  • Conducting research on licensing and publishing opportunities across the world
  • Preparing business proposals for pitching new and existing works.
  • Liaising with sync agencies, production companies & advertising agencies
  • Developing creative strategies for new and existing works
  • Regularly update artists’, songwriters’, publishers’, and rights holder’s repertoire with PPL, PRS, and other necessary collection societies.
  • Regularly update publishers on releases.
  • Reviewing and following up on licensing requests.
  • Providing administrative support to Licensing and Publishing team.
  • Follow up and execute projects as handed out from the Partnership Department.
  • Build music portfolio locally and internationally
  • Follow up on outstanding licensing deals
  • Negotiate and secure licenses for the use of Santabella Music Empire's music catalog across various media platforms, including films, TV shows, commercials, video games, and online streaming services.
  • Administer publishing rights for our songwriters and composers, ensuring accurate registration of songs with performing rights organizations (PROs) and timely collection of royalties.
  • Monitor and track the usage of our compositions to ensure proper compensation for our rights holders.
  • Oversee the collection and distribution of royalties from mechanical, synchronization, and performance rights, collaborating closely with accounting and finance teams.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate licensing agreements, publishing contracts, and other legal documents related to the exploitation of our music catalog.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Entertainment Law, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in licensing and publishing management roles within the music industry, preferably with a focus on record labels or music publishing companies.
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating and closing licensing deals with major media outlets, production companies, and digital platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of copyright laws, licensing regulations, and industry standards governing the exploitation of music rights.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in music licensing and publishing software and platforms is a plus.
