MTN Nigeria is part of the MTN Group, Africa\'s leading cellular telecommunications company. On May 16, 2001, MTN became the first GSM network to make a call following the globally lauded Nigerian GSM auction conducted by the Nigerian Communications Commission earlier in the year. Thereafter the company launched full commercial operations beginning with Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. MTN paid $285m for one of four GSM licenses in Nigeria in January 2001. To date, in excess of US$1.8 billion has been invested building mobile telecommunications infrastructure in Nigeria. Since launch in August 2001, MTN has steadily deployed its services across Nigeria. It now provides services in 223 cities and towns, more than 10,000 villages and communities and a growing number of highways across the country, spanning the 36 states of the Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Many of these villages and communities are being connected to the world of telecommunications for the first time ever. The company\'s digital microwave transmission backbone, the 3,400 Kilometre Y\'elloBahn was commissioned by President Olusegun Obasanjo in January 2003 and is reputed to be the most extensive digital microwave transmission infrastructure in all of Africa. The Y\'elloBahn has significantly helped to enhance call quality on MTN network.

Mission:

Plan, coordinate, and oversee activities related to User Interface, User Experience & User Interaction design, development and process (Business & Systems) automation design & implementation for the enterprise in Information System Group (ISG)

Description:

  • Manage UI/UX, process automation, design, and development processes to ensure the optimal usability of products and services.
  • Keep abreast of developments in technologies and strategies in the local and international business environment and recommend value-adding improvements to MTNN’s IS and product strategy.
  • Participate actively in Product Development Steering Committee activities and initiatives.
  • Provide aid in channeling and resolving issues arising from delivered solutions.
  • Direct necessary checks to ensure development activities conform to the objectives set out at project initiation.
  • Work closely with the technical lead in understanding the functional and technical design.
  • Develops and configures automation processes as per the Technical Design Document (TDD) to meet defined requirements.
  • Comply with and help enforce design and coding standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluate MTNN’s business objectives in relation to NPS as well as the role of automation, UI/UX, etc. in the business plan.
  • Take an active role in planning for implementation of solutions, including defining requirements, proving concepts, identifying processes for RPA, and determining feasibility with various process owners across the organization.
  • Take UI/UX innovation and designs to the next level.
  • Champion user-centered designs when problem-solving.
  • Manage the day-to-day working relationship between solution delivery, service delivery, and infrastructure services to plan and execute integration strategies necessary for the integration of information or functions between key application services and systems.
  • Lead a group of technical experts responsible for UI/UX, automation architecture, and design.
  • Direct the activities of team members toward understanding the business plan and IS strategy and designing or developing solutions to support or achieve the objectives.
  • Manage the team by ensuring that the technical architecture is followed and that the services necessary to meet the changing needs of the organization are implemented and maintained.
  • Review the performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.

Education:

  • First degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Fluent in English

Experience:

6 - 13 years’ experience, which includes:

  • Experience working in scrum teams
  • Extensive experience in the design of digital products or services
  • Experience in design for strategy, research, UX, UX/UI, service design, or digital products
  • Experience using industry tools (e.g., Adobe CS, Sketch, Miro, Invision, Figma, etc.)
  • Experience working in a medium to large organization.
