The Justice Development Peace and Health is a program of the Catholic Ecclesiastical Province of Jos. The program was set up to Coordinate, develop appropriate structures, offer required services, and improve the system of social development already existing in the Dioceses since 1970.

We are looking for a suitably qualified person who will fill the vacant position of two MEAL Assistants. The Assistants will work under the MEAL officer to assist in carrying out  MEAL  activities of the MEAL Unit. He/she will be required to travel to communities in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states throughout the duration of the project.

Contract Duration:   2 years

Location: Borno, Adamawa and Yobe

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing effective Results Based Monitoring and Evaluation and ensuring effective implementation.
  • Assist in developing project process results, M&E matrix and tools
  • Assist in developing monitoring plans that capture quantitative and qualitative data to facilitate quality reporting on log-frame and result framework performance indicators
  • Assist in developing an operational reporting template for the project that facilitates the collection and aggregation of information
  • In collaboration with the MEAL Officer, make regular monitoring visits to project sites to oversee data collection and ensure that the right data is being collected
  • Assist in summarizing, analyzing and interpreting data
  • Undertake quality monitoring and the development of project completion reports
  • Assist in the documentation and reporting of monitoring data, lessons learned and success stories for internal and external sharing

 

Skills required

  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, planning, and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure funding and manage donor relationships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of local languages is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data management, public health, international development, economic development, or other relevant sectors.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the MEAL sector or in management roles on humanitarian or development projects.
  • Proven experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, survey design and implementation, and statistical data analysis.
  • Demonstrated MEAL experience in project technical areas; food security and agriculture, livelihoods/ resilience building, market systems. 
  • Strong experience and knowledge of different donor M&E guidelines, systems, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong data, writing skills, and ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
