Key Responsibilities: 

  • Edit original video content, including short- and mid-form explainers, profiles, and documentary-style pieces. 
  • Design and animate motion graphics such as text overlays, charts, maps, and icons to enhance storytelling. 
  • Collaborate with producers, writers, and editors to bring editorial scripts and concepts to life visually. 
  • Format and optimize content for different platforms (e.g., vertical, square, and widescreen formats). 
  • Apply brand-consistent elements such as intros, lower thirds, and transitions.
  • Maintain organized project files and media libraries for streamlined workflows. 
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and trends in video production, design, and digital storytelling. 

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in motion graphics and video editing, preferably within a digital media, news, or creative agency environment. 
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to create visually engaging and informative video content.
  • Proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Photoshop. 
  • Strong visual storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex information through motion and design. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced editorial setting. Preferred (Not Mandatory): 
  • Experience creating content for digital-first platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook. 
  • Familiarity with African business, tech, or startup ecosystems. 
  • Experience in sound editing and basic color correction.
