Surge Africa design and implement innovative measures that improve approaches to climate adaptation through policy, media and resilient development. We acknowledge that climate change is multifaceted and must be tackled by anchoring strategies using a multi-layered approach towards various levels of our societies, which is why our programs are tailored to strategically advance climate resilience by influencing and advancing an inclusive decentralization of people, energy, economic and landscape governance. Surge Africa has a regional presence in Africa with a footprint of operations in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa through numerous programs and initiatives. Through our media work, we saw it necessary to bridge regional gaps, by initiating programs in Latin America to promote our shared values for justice and equality in climate justice advocacy.
Role Overview:
As the Network Coordinator, you will be responsible for facilitating communication and collaboration among our diverse network of youth climate activists and organizations. You will play a key role in organizing events, coordinating campaigns, and supporting the visibility and access of the Youth Climate Collective.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the activities of the YCC throught its establised platform.
- Mobilise, manage and coordinate Youth Climate Activists across the world under the YCC.
- Coordinate communication channels, including email lists, social media groups, and online forums for YCC.
- Organize virtual and in-person events, workshops, and conferences aimed at promoting the activities of the YCC.
- Support the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns and initiatives on climate change.
- Provide resources and support to help members engage in climate action efforts.
- Seek for resource, partners, funding for the YCC.
Qualifications:
- 3 year working experience in network coordination especially in the Climate Space.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with strategic communications and movement building.
- Creativity and the ability to think strategically about communications.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in Google Workspace and any other relevant tools.
- Fast and adaptable learner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
