Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Research/Data Analyst to support our research and policy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, cleaning and analyzing data related to trade, commerce, and industry. They will also provide research support to the team, conducting literature reviews, and summarizing findings.
Reports to: Research Manager/ Director, Research & Advocacy.
Job Description:
- Researching, analyzing and monitoring economic developments and issues of importance to the Lagos & Nigerian business community, and helping to shape government policy on investment and trade.
- Carry out market research, conduct surveys, Collect, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources to support business objectives
- Statistical analysis on data
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.
- Provide regular information on trends of major economic indicators such as GDP growth, sectoral GDP data, inflation rate, interest rate, global oil prices, exchange rate, as well as domestic and external debt as well as contribute to the production of economic reports to EXCO and Council periodically.
- Keep an up-to-date record of policy pronouncements by the Government at both the State and Federal levels.
- Project Management, concept note and proposal writing for grants from potential Donors.
- Liaise with the Research Department from other organizations/Government agencies
- Design and Manage Research & Advocacy programs of the Chamber including donor-funded research projects.
- Prepare position papers and working papers on policy-orientated economic issues for discussion at the chamber\\\'s business roundtable forums.
- Support the advocacy function through provision of timely information on macroeconomic issues and other Government policies that have potential to affect the business community adversely.
- Assistant Editor Responsibilities. Support the Director, Research & Advocacy/ Editor on the publication of LCCI Business Journal on Quarterly basis.
- Research Support: Conduct literature reviews, summarize* findings, and provide research support to the team.
- Report Writing. Assist in writing reports, communiques, minutes, briefs, and other publications produced by the Department.
- Carry out other assignments as may be assigned by the Director and Director-General
Skills
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI)
- Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques and data visualization best practices
- Experience with data cleaning and transformation, as well as working with large datasets
- Familiarity with business intelligence platforms and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven insights clearly and concisely
- Knowledge of database management and query languages (e.g., SQL)
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor\\\'s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field. M.Sc in Economics is an added advantage.
- Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in data entry, research, or a related field.
- Certification in data analysis, database management, or a related field.
- Experience working with statistical software, such as R, Stata, or SPSS.
