Job Summary
- The Security Research & Data Analyst will support Halogen’s Advisory unit by conducting data-driven research and security intelligence analysis. The role contributes to the organization’s strategic intelligence capability through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of open-source and internal data to produce actionable insights for our security reports & advisories which would feature crime trends, emerging security issues, regional hotspots and threat profile across Nigeria.
- Halogen’s advisory unit works together to deliver reliable updates to clients by providing them real-time alerts and comprehensive advisory reports to enhance their situational awareness thereby enabling their businesses stay ahead of risks and protect their people, assets, and operations (i.e., promote business continuity)
Key Accountabilities
Data Collection and Management
- Collect, sort and analyze daily security incident data from open-source platforms, field intelligence, and internal databases.
- Clean and validate data sources for completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain and update datasets ensuring timeliness and consistency for trend analysis and insights reporting.
- Develop and refine data templates, classification systems, and documentation procedures as necessary.
Security Research and Analysis
- Conduct ongoing research and analysis on national and regional security incidents, trends, and threat actors
- Monitor political, socio-economic, and environmental factors with potential security implications
- Produce timely intelligence briefs, that summarizes insights from thematic analysis to support decision-making.
Reporting and Advisory Development
- Prepare and deliver data-driven intelligence products, including daily alerts, weekly situation reports, and monthly/quarterly advisories using open sources and internal intelligence platform
- Utilize visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar) to analyse and present complex security data
- Identify and interpret trends, hotspots, and emerging risks using historical and real-time data
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with internal units to ensure that reports and advisories meet client standards and Halogen’s quality benchmarks.
- Contribute to the development of risk indices and forecasting models
- Support process improvement initiatives, including automation and dashboard optimization
- Participate in internal reviews, capacity-building sessions, and innovation projects to enhance the Advisory unit’s analytical capability
Requirements
- Strong analytical, research, and critical-thinking skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other analytical tools
- Familiarity with open-source intelligence and data gathering methodologies
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- Ability to translate complex datasets into actionable insights
- High attention to detail and adherence to confidentiality and data standards.
