About the Role: We are looking for a highly driven Senior Database Administrator (Senior DBA) to oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex database systems. He/She will ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of databases, and provide leadership and guidance to junior DBAs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Database Architecture: Design and implement advanced database architectures to support business needs.
  • Performance Tuning: Optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Security Management: Develop and enforce database security policies, including data encryption, access controls, and compliance with regulations.
  • Disaster Recovery: Design and implement robust disaster recovery plans and backup strategies.
  • Troubleshooting: Lead the resolution of complex database issues and provide advanced support to users.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and train junior DBAs, providing guidance on best practices and professional development.
  • Project Management: Manage database projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and changes.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with DBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience: Significant experience in database administration, with a proven track record of managing complex database environments.

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree or HND (upper) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Advanced certifications such as Oracle Certified Master (OCM), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or similar are highly preferred.
