We are committed to providing support, resources, and opportunities for these children to thrive. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Work Intern to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to children with special needs and their families by assisting social workers in delivering services, managing cases, and fostering positive relationships within the community. You will be an integral part of a dynamic team that aims to improve the lives of children with special needs and ensure their access to the care and resources they deserve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist social workers with case management and client assessments for children with special needs and their families.
  • Help develop and implement care plans that address the unique needs of each child.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to children and families during meetings, home visits, and follow-up visits.
  • Maintain and update case files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate services with healthcare professionals, schools, community organizations, and other external service providers.
  • Assist with crisis intervention, referrals, and connecting families to additional resources as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and share observations to contribute to ongoing program development.
  • Support administrative tasks, including data entry, scheduling appointments, and preparing reports.
  • Provide educational support and assist families in understanding their rights and accessing available services.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children with special needs, or in a social services role, is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a passion for supporting children and families.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Familiarity with community resources, special education programs, and services for children with special needs is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic data entry
  • Must reside in Lagos
