About the project
- Ikore is implementing a one-year project in Kaduna and Adamawa States focused on strengthening livestock vaccine markets, improvinglast-mile delivery, enhancing veterinary service systems, and supporting commercially viable access to quality-assured livestock vaccines for smallholder livestock producers.
- The project aims to demonstratea 40% vaccination improvement within one year in at least three diseases (PPR, CBPP, LSD) across selected exemplar areas.
About the Role
- The ACSM Officer drives community awareness, advocacy, social mobilization, communications support and contributes to monitoring activities.
- The role works closely with Field Officers and the Communications team to ensure strong visibility, engagement, behaviour change, and accurate reporting of field activities.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Coordinate enumerators and support baseline, periodic, and endline data collection activities.
- Track vaccination uptake, sales performance, and service delivery indicators across target areas.
- Ensure data accuracy, verification, andtimelyaggregation for reporting.
- Contribute tomonthly, quarterly, and annual project reports.
Communication:
- Implement community sensitisation and vaccination awareness campaigns.
- Support development and dissemination of IEC materials tailored to pastoral and livestock-producing communities.
- Lead engagement with local radio and media platforms to promote livestock vaccination uptake.
- Document field impact stories and visibility materials in collaboration with the Communications team.
Stakeholder Engagement & Community Mobilisation:
- Mobilise farmers, community leaders,agro-dealers, and veterinary actors for vaccination campaigns and events.
- Support advocacy engagements with relevant government and private sector stakeholders.
- Strengthen relationships with community-based actors to improve last-mile vaccine access.
Technology & Farmer Engagement:
- Support on boarding of farmers and field actors onto digital platforms and SMS campaigns.
- Monitor engagement levels and provide feedback to improve outreach effectiveness.
- Support training sessions for farmer groups and veterinary actors.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication, Agricultural Extension, Public Health or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ progressive experience in advocacy, communit ymobilisation, development communication, ormonitoringroles within donor-funded programmes.
- Demonstrated experience working in livestock, agriculture, public health, or rural development projects in Northern Nigeria.
- Experience supporting vaccination campaigns, animal health interventions, or community-based health initiatives is highly desirable.
- Proven experience coordinating enumerators and supporting baseline, midline, or endline assessments.
- Experience working with radio and local media platforms for behaviour change and awareness campaigns.
- Experience using digital tools for data collection (e.g., KoboCollect, ODK, SurveyCTO) and basic data aggregation/reporting.
Skills & Competency:
- Strong understanding of advocacy,behaviour change communication, and community mobilisationin rural contexts.
- Ability to coordinate data collection processes, supervise enumerators, and ensure data quality.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with government actors, veterinary professionals, media, and farmer groups.
- Ability to translate technical livestock and vaccination concepts into clear, community-friendly messaging.
- Proficiencyin digital data collection tools and basic data analysis (Excel or similar).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English Language; Hausa language proficiency is an advantage.
- High level of accountability, adaptability, and ability to work independently in field settings.
