The Wellbeing Foundation Africa - Founded in 2004, The Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA) was created with the aim of improving health outcomes for women, infants and children whilst working towards the systemic and structural changes in the areas of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Gender Equality and Opportunity (GEO). At the WBFA, we combine our programmes with advocacy work in Nigeria and around the world allowing every health worker, mother and child access to life altering advice, opportunities and health solutions.

  • Working Hours: 37.5 
  • Duration: Initial 12 month contract (6 months' probationary period)

Scope of Work: 

Looking for a highly motivated Advocacy, Digital Communications, and Campaigns Manager to lead the creation of clear, compelling media, press, and digital content that aligns with the Foundation’s programmatic output and advocacy initiatives.

WBFA is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Advocacy, Digital Communications and Campaigns Manager who will lead on creating clear and compelling media, press and creative digital output that builds on the Foundation’s programmatic output and advocacy initiatives.

You will be creating and implementing the Foundations advocacy and communications strategy whilst translating our work into timely, compelling and actionable narratives.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference working in a growing and ambitious organisation with an established record of accomplishment of improving access to healthcare within West Africa.

He/She will report to WBFA Executive Director/Country Director and liaise with the Global Office of the Founder-President as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Advocacy:

  • Understand the Foundation’s programmes, audiences and stakeholders and spot opportunities for driving change based on our programmes of work.
  • Develop, lead, contribute to or implement policy, advocacy, research or strategies to a high standard.
  • Build strategic coalitions among policy makers and relevant government agencies around the Foundations mission, with a particular focus on maternal health, WASH (Water, sanitation and hygiene), child nutrition and the rise of women and girls.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders and build strong working relationships with partners and advocacy targets.
  • Lead consultations with partners from the private and public sectors and civil society to enhance and develop the Foundations advocacy objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with our state offices and other colleagues across the organisation to contribute to the success of our national and international advocacy.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge in our core advocacy areas and advise colleagues across the Foundation

Communications:

  • Develop our communications strategy with practical approaches to translate high impact content.
  • Creating clear, compelling and consistent messaging and content capturing our mission with our most relevant audiences.
  • Write and edit a wide range of content including briefings, blogs, press releases, reports and presentations.
  • Create and design compelling digital content for social media showcasing WBFA programmes, initiatives and advocacy.
  • Support the team to develop their communications skills and articulate the Foundation’s work for a range of audiences.
  • Understand the landscape we work in, who our stakeholders are and identify potential new audiences.
  • Proactively spot opportunities to showcase our work and pitch stories to media outlets.
  • Be responsible for our website, newsletters and all social media channels to ensure we are maximising their impact.
  • Lead on a range of events conception, planning and execution, including conferences, stakeholder events and workshops.
  • Make sure we are keeping our partners, funders and trustees up to date and channelling their feedback.
  • Monitor and evaluate our communications activities to improve future outputs, understand
  • whether we’re reaching our audiences and help find solutions when we need to change.
  • Carry out other tasks and perform any other prevention duties as required to support the organisation’s projects.

Skills and Experience:

  • BA/BSc/HND in the related field is required. Master’s degree or advanced certificate in Communications will be an added advantage.
  • A track record in delivering advocacy and communications work, preferably in a technology, policy or NGO/civil society environment.
  • Excellent writing skills across a range of formats and for a range of audiences with the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling storytelling.
  • Strong digital media and design skills.
  • Ability to work with audio visual media including producing presentations and video clips.
  • Good face to face communication and the ability to be at ease with people from a wide range of
  • backgrounds and be confident when dealing with high profile people.
  • A strategic mindset and the ability to offer and receive constructively critical feedback.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with drive and at pace.
  • The ability to cope with uncertainty and change and find solutions in the face of challenges.
  • Great organisational skills and the ability to stay on top of many large and small tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to quality and attention to details.
