Job Description
The role involves collecting, verifying, writing, and publishing news stories for an online platform managed by seasoned professional journalists.
Responsibilities
- Gather, verify, and report on news stories.
- Write and self-edit insightful articles with a focus on business and politics.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of major personalities, trends, and events in Nigeria, especially within the political and business sectors.
- Publish content to the website using WordPress and other content management tools.
- Optimise content for SEO and social media visibility.
Requirements
- Excellent command of the English language, with strong writing and editing skills.
- Deep understanding of the professional and personal lives of key political and business figures in Nigeria.
- Proficiency in gathering, editing, and curating compelling stories.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office, WordPress, SEO practices, and web research.
- Familiarity with AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Grammarly for content generation and editing is an added advantage.
- Active presence on social media platforms, with a flair for engaging audiences.
- At least one year of media experience.
- Flexibility to work on weekends and public holidays.
Educational Qualification
- Minimum education required: OND.
