Communications and Sustainability Analyst at International Breweries

International Breweries Plc was incorporated in December 1971 by its founder and first Chairman, Dr. Lawrence Omole under the name International Breweries Limited. The Company commenced production of its flagship product Trophy Lager in December 1978 with an installed capacity of 200,000 hectoliters per annum. Following the increasing demand for its products, in December 1982 the Company embarked on an expansion programme to increase its capacity to 500,000 hectoliters annually. The company was listed on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange in April 1995.

The key purpose of this role is to integrate sustainability initiatives into Corporate Communications Strategies. The Communications & Sustainability Analyst will analyze environmental and social impact data, craft compelling narratives, and develop communication materials aligned with the organization’s sustainability goals.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data to assess our company's sustainability performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainability communication strategies that resonate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create engaging content, including reports, presentations, website copy, and social media posts, to communicate our sustainability initiatives and achievements.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and stakeholder expectations related to sustainability and advise on potential implications for our organization.
  • Support sustainability reporting efforts, including gathering data, coordinating with relevant departments, and ensuring compliance with reporting frameworks and standards.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications and Sustainability Manager (CC/SM) and Corporate Affairs Managers (CAMs) on sustainability projects and collation of performance and impact reports for such projects.
  • Collaborate with CC/SM on creating plans for the year
  • Work on presentations and reports as necessary
  • Work with cross-functional teams, the zone and necessary partners to implement projects
  • Regular update and maintenance of the website.
  • Working with the agency on digital content and monitoring of interactions on Social media posts for engagement and flagging of posts with potential of affecting the company’s reputation negatively.
  • Identify opportunities for corporate brand growth and garner goodwill
  • Plan and execute corporate events, conferences, and sponsorships to raise the company's profile and support its business objectives.
  • Management of OneDrive data repository of all the company’s projects and event’s media component such as pictures and videos.

Key attributes and competencies:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data effectively.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change within organizations.
  • Ability to engage internal and external stakeholders

Profile:

Education

  • Min. of B.Sc./HND in Communications, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, or related field.

Experience

  • 3 - 5 years management experience.
  • Proven experience in corporate communications, sustainability reporting, or related areas, preferably within a corporate or consulting environment.
