Deputy Executive Director, Media at EIENigeria

EIENigeriaLagos, Nigeria Digital Marketing
Full Time
Approximately 70% of Nigeria’s population, representing about 105 million people, is under 30. While most are illiterate and live in rural areas, all of us are disenfranchised and disillusioned. During The Future Awards in February 2010, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala challenged the young people in the audience to take charge of their destinies. She underlined the population advantage in a way many people had never heard before and emphasized that change can only happen when young people say 'enough’! She didn’t define what form that action should take, but young people across the country were listening. This, essentially, was the birth of the EnoughisEnough Nigeria Coalition. Who we are EnoughisEnough Nigeria (EiE) is a coalition of individuals and youth-led organizations committed to instituting a culture of good governance and public accountability in Nigeria through advocacy, activism and the mobilization of the youth population as responsible citizens. We are non-partisan, neither are we a platform for the actualization of any individual’s political ambitions. Given our limited resources - financial, human and time - we have decided to focus on Nigerians of voting age, especially 18 - 35 year olds, who have access to technology:- mobile phones, the internet and television. Our message is also very simple: Register, Select, Vote and Protect (R.S.V.P). There are currently 6.41 million Nigerians on Facebook (as of 31 October, 2012) which is about 43 times the reach of the most exaggerated number of Nigeria’s most successful newspaper, therefore the use of technology increase access to information. We belong to every young Nigerian; and so every young Nigerian or Nigerian group is free to join this organization, with very few exceptions. Vision By 2015, we shall evolve processes that enhance citizen engagement and good governance. Mission We believe in the potential of young people to shape Nigeria’s destiny. Goal Our ambitious goal is to mobilize 10 million young people, cutting across religious, ethnic and socio-economic divides in the country to be actively engaged in the electoral process by 2015. Values: Patriotism Integrity Passion Excellence Service Our Focus We cannot reach every young Nigerian, so we have decided to leverage on the power of technology to reach as many as we can. Therefore, our audience is every young Nigerian with access to technology - internet and mobile phones, and to a lesser degree, television and radio.
