Diageo is still a relatively young company - we have only existed in our current form since 1997- but our brands and our business have a rich heritage. our earliest ancestor company formed in 1749, is Justerini & Brooks - wine merchants, and blenders of the famous J&B whisky range. 10 years after that, in 1759 Arthur Guinness signed the lease on the now world famous St James's Gate brewery in Dublin, going on to create a globally iconic brand.
Role Responsibilities
- The role is accountable for the development and delivery of Diageo’s public policy strategy, encompassing regulatory affairs and stakeholder relations.
- The geographic scope of the role covers several countries of interest in Diageo SWC Africa growth strategy in the West Central region
- Develop a regulatory affairs strategy that minimizes risks and increase opportunities for business growth Monitor and coordinate responses to business risks relating but not limited to excise tax/levies; marketing rights and licence to operate.
- Support innovation initiatives through facilitating new product registration, import permits and other relevant regulatory requirement Support SWC Africa growth through facilitating licence to operate in key markets and cities as per the southern Africa business strategy.
- Proactively develop Diageo’s reputation with key external stakeholders including Government, Regulators and Industry bodies.
- Lead in building and maintaining positive relations with priority stakeholders including through sponsorships Effectively manage relationships with external service providers to drive execution on key initiatives
