Job Description
Our client is a leading digital media company. They are looking to hire a Head of Production who will lead the end-to-end production strategy for a fast-paced 24-hour digital news station, ensuring high-quality, compelling, and timely content across broadcast, OTT, web, social media, and emerging platforms. This role requires a strong blend of editorial judgment, production leadership, new-media expertise, and technology awareness, with hands-on experience in news, documentaries, explainers, reviews, and long-form storytelling.
Responsibilities:
Production Leadership & Strategy
Lead and oversee all content production operations for a 24x7 digital news platform
Define and implement production strategies aligned with editorial vision and business goals
Establish workflows for breaking news, live programming, recorded shows, documentaries, and digital exclusives
Build scalable production models suitable for a startup environment
Content Development & Execution
Supervise the production of: Live news bulletins and studio shows, Digital-first programs (short-form, explainers, reels, reviews), Documentaries and investigative features, Technology, business, culture, and social issue reviews
Collaborate with editorial teams to translate stories into impactful visual narratives
Ensure content is optimized for web, mobile, OTT, and social platforms
New Media & Digital Innovation
Drive adoption of new-media formats such as:Vertical video, Interactive and data-driven storytelling, AI-assisted production tools, Mobile journalism (MoJo)
Track digital trends, audience behavior, and platform algorithms to inform production decisions
Work closely with growth and social teams to maximize reach and engagement
Technology & Infrastructure
Oversee production technology including: Newsroom systems, Editing and graphics tools, Live streaming and cloud-based production solutions
Collaborate with tech teams to implement automation, remote production, and cost-efficient workflows
Evaluate and adopt new tools to enhance speed, quality, and scalability
Team Management & Talent Development
Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary production team: Producers, Video editors, Camera operators, Motion graphic designers and Digital content creators
Define roles, KPIs, and performance standards
Foster a high-energy, innovation-driven, and collaborative culture
Quality Control & Editorial Standards
Maintain high editorial, visual, and technical standards across all content
Ensure accuracy, ethical journalism, and compliance with legal and regulatory norms
Oversee content review processes before publication or broadcast
Budgeting & Resource Management
Plan and manage production budgets efficiently in a startup environment
Optimize use of internal resources, freelancers, and vendors
Balance speed, quality, and cost without compromising editorial integrity
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Film, Media Studies, or related field.
Advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus.
Min of 7 years of experience in media production, preferably in Digital news, Broadcast news, OTT platforms, Digital media startups
Proven experience managing 24-hour news operations.
Strong background in Videography, New media and digital content production, Documentary and long-form storytelling, Reviews, explainers, and analytical programming.
Deep understanding of Newsroom workflows, Live and recorded production, Digital publishing ecosystems.
Hands-on knowledge of editing tools (Adobe, Final Cut, etc.).
Familiarity with analytics, SEO, and content performance metrics.
Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
