Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With 151 member states, a further 12 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants. IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people. The IOM Constitution recognizes the link between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as well as to the right of freedom of movement. IOM works in the four broad areas of migration management: Migration and development Facilitating migration Regulating migration Forced migration. IOM activities that cut across these areas include the promotion of international migration law, policy debate and guidance, protection of migrants' rights, migration health and the gender dimension of migration. IOM Nigeria commenced activities in 2001 and focused its interventions on counter trafficking activities, migration issues, return and reintegration of stranded migrants especially to Liberia, and Voluntary Returns from abroad.

Job Description

  • Under the overall guidance of the Head of Sub-Office in Maiduguri, and the direct supervision of the Rapid Response Fund Programme Manager, the Rapid Response Fund Information Management Assistant will play a critical role in supporting the effective management and dissemination of information related to the Rapid Response Fund.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing  dashboards, infographics, maps, and other reports to facilitate informed decision-making and enhance communication for both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the M&E Officer to develop and maintain robust information management systems to capture, store, and analyze data related to Rapid Response Fund subgrants.
  • Assist to maintain data integrity, consistency, and security in line with organizational standards and protocols.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and verify data necessary for reports and visualizations.
  • Maintain interactive dashboards that provide timely insights into fund performance, project outcomes, and key metrics.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, infographics, and maps that clearly communicate complex data and narratives for various audiences.
  • Regularly update reports and dashboards to reflect the most current data and trends.
  • Assist to conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform program strategy and operations.
  • Utilize data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS) to create visually compelling and user-friendly presentations of data.
  • Collaborate with program managers and other team members to translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for internal and external meetings, ensuring clarity and relevance of information presented.
  • Facilitate training sessions or workshops on data management and visualization tools for staff and partners.
  • Engage with external partners, donors, and stakeholders to share findings and promote transparency in fund utilization.
  • Support the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of the Rapid Response Fund.
  • Contribute to the writing of evaluation reports, ensuring that findings are data-driven and actionable.
  • Support the management of multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams across the organization to coordinate information-related activities and projects.
  • Assisting with workshops and training.
  • Perform any other related task as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Management, Data Science, Geography, Social Sciences, or  other related fields with one year of related professional experience, or
  • High School diploma with four  years of related professional experience

Experience:

  • Proven experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field, preferably within the non-profit or humanitarian sector.
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) and geographic information systems (GIS) software.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and present them in an understandable manner.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with experience in producing reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of rapid response frameworks and a solid understanding of program monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment and manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure with minimum supervision Familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS etc).
  • Hard working, good team player, dedicated, and able to monitor and follow up on pending matters Strong communication, analytical organizational, and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Understanding of humanitarian principles and emergency response mechanisms.
